At Tibberton Community Primary School and Early Years, our curriculum is created around the September 2014 National Curriculum for Key Stages 1 & 2 and the Early Years 2024 framework in EYFS for our Reception and nursery classes.
PURPOSE
Learn, Explore, Aspire and Flourish (LEAF)
Our curriculum encourages children to aspire to do their best and to develop their own curiosity and sense of inquisitiveness. We help all children to flourish by supporting them with challenge, curiosity and adapt our curriculum for our SEND provision. . We always expect the best from the children and are ready to scaffold their learning for the next steps whatever age, or level of development they are at - focusing on our end points of learning.
We encourage the children to have an intrinsic desire to learn and determination to succeed. We work hard to make our topics inspirational or for them to follow the children’s interests so that they are up to date and relate to children. We encourage children to be able to evaluate and assess their own learning to enable them to progress and develop their critical thinking.
The curriculum is not all about results but about teaching children to become rounded people proud of themselves. We pride ourselves on our children's achievements and progress and make sure that children are well prepared for tests and assessments in a sensitive way.
Aims – Why have we designed our curriculum.
Our curriculum encompasses the activities that we as a school organise in order to promote learning, personal growth and development. It includes not only the formal requirements of the National Curriculum or EYFS but also the ‘hidden curriculum’, or what the children learn from the way they are treated and expected to behave. We aim to teach children how to grow into positive, responsible people, who can work and co-operate with others, whilst developing knowledge, skills and attitudes to learning, in order that they aspire to their true potential.
The curriculum also includes the range of extra-curricular activities that the school organises in order to enrich the experiences of our children.
Our Curriculum supports children to Learn, Explore, Aspire and Flourish.
The nursery curriculum encourages children to ‘learn through play and play to learn’

Tibberton's Remote Education Provision Information
All pupils should attend school, in line with the Primary QuEST attendance policy. Remote education is not viewed as an equal alternative to attendance in school.
We will consider providing remote education to pupils in circumstances when in-person attendance is either not possible or contrary to government guidance.
Please follow the above link for more information.
Religous Education Policy
We study Religious Education (RE) to foster understanding, tolerance, and critical thinking about diverse worldviews, beliefs, and cultures, promoting respect and empathy in a diverse society, and enabling pupils to engage in reasoned debate and understand the role of religion and belief in the modern world. RE underpins our vision that we will help pupils grow into people who bring hope to the world.
Here is a more detailed explanation of why studying RE is important to us at Tibberton Community Primary School and Early Years:
Understanding Diverse Perspectives: RE exposes pupils to a wide range of religious and non-religious beliefs, practices, and traditions, helping them to appreciate different perspectives and cultures.
Developing Critical Thinking Skills: RE encourages pupils to analyse, evaluate, and critically examine religious texts, beliefs, and practices, promoting critical thinking and reasoned argumentation.
Exploring Moral and Ethical Issues: RE provides a platform for exploring complex moral and ethical issues, such as justice, truth, and the concept of right and wrong, helping pupils develop their own values and beliefs.
Understanding the Role of Religion in Society: RE helps pupils understand the historical, social, and cultural significance of religion, as well as its influence on various aspects of life, including politics, art, and literature.
Fostering Empathy and Compassion: By learning about the experiences and perspectives of people from different religious backgrounds, pupils can develop empathy and compassion for others, promoting a more caring and understanding world.
Preparing for a Diverse World: In an increasingly diverse and interconnected world, RE equips pupils with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate a world of different religions and beliefs, promoting peaceful coexistence and understanding.
We use the Gloucestershire Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education. This provides the children with creative and engaging ways to explore the three core elements:
To support our Christianity units we use the Understanding Christianity document.
RE is legally required for all pupils. RE is a core subject of the curriculum for all pupils. It is an entitlement for all pupils through their schooling, from Reception up to and including Year Six.
Parents have a right to withdraw pupils from RE. Please see the document below for further details.
